Sawyer mini water filtration system

The lightest and most compact water filters available that is better and much more convenient. You just need to attach the mini to its included bag or any compatible water bottle to help squeeze the filtered water into a drinking vessel or your mouth. It’s slow to filter and prone to clogging and the small 16-ounce pouch isn’t the best for filling a standard water bottle so it’s not the best for using when you go camping or hiking only for emergencies. The main drawback with this filter is that the squeeze bags arent meant to last forever, but you can attach them to a compatible water bottle.

Best Vegetables To Grow In Pots

Best Vegetables To Grow In Pots

Tomatoes

Most people know that it’s very easy to grow tomatoes in pots. They’re beautiful and delicious and one of the best-loved veggies, although technically a fruit, and an ideal potted plant you can grow at home. Tomatoes tend to be one of the most productive potted plants you can grow because you can harvest about 10 pounds in a season. Tomatoes need a lot of sunlight, about 5-6 hours minimum, and regular watering so it’s best to place them next to a window or on the roof terrace. Tomatoes don’t like the cold weather and they cant survive through a frost so avoid putting them out too soon, especially if there’s a frost risk.
Tomatoes come in 2 types, determinate and indeterminate. Generally, the determinate variety is the best type of tomatoes to grow in pots because they aren’t very large and you’re supposed to harvest them all at once. The cherry tomatoes can give you a very high yield. The indeterminate variety is very large tomatoes that will need a big container since they can even grow to reach 6 feet.
When planting tomato seedlings, you’ll need to remove the seed leaves and the first set of true leaves, then place the bottom half of the seedling in the ground and plant it much deeper than other plants.

Green beans

Most beans are either the bushy type or climbers and they all grow upwards. The bushy bean variety can grow happily in a pot without any support while the climbing variety will need to grow them on a trellis near a wall, fence, or a vertical space where they can run across.
The porch pick is a small, neat, and compact bushy bean variety that can grow in small spaces. These beans are tender, crispy, and sweet. They love the sun and you can harvest them after 55 days.
The scarlet runner is a very colorful plant that produces small, delicious, red, and heart-shaped flowers and nutty beans. They grow vertically in small spaces and can be continually picked which makes them perfect for potting near your kitchen. They’re ready for picking after 60-70 days and you can eat both the beans and pods.

Lettuce

Lettuce grows very quickly and you can harvest it many times throughout the growing season. Since it’s a cool-season plant, you’ll need to know the right time to plant it, but usually, the seeds are planted in the spring but if you live in a warm climate, you should grow your lettuce in winter. Growing your lettuce in a container will make it easier to control weeds and pests than when planting them in the ground. Lettuce doesn’t need as much sun as other veggies.
You’ll need a wide container that is about 6 inches deep, leave 4 inches of space between each plant, and make sure you use deep-draining soil and water frequently. Lettuce needs plenty of moist soil and the containers dry out faster than soil in the ground.

Pea

Peas thrive in moderate conditions which makes them perfect for container growing and don’t need a large pot or a lot of attention to grow. There are 3 types of peas; sugar snap peas, snow peas, and English peas. You can plant peas in early spring and again in the fall and depending on the variety you’re growing, some with need peas will need some support. Ensure that the soil is always slightly moist.

Radishes

Radishes grow very easily which makes them perfect for container gardening and you can plant them in small and wide pots. They grow fast in hot weather, but you can control that by moving the plant in a shady area or water it to cool it down. There are many varieties of radishes, so you can select the seeds based on flavor and appearance. You need a container that is 6 inches deep or 10 inches depending on the variety and space 3 inches between each plant. Water regularly and you can harvest within a month.

Chilies and peppers

These are very productive and perfect for container growing. They’re very attractive in pots and only need a warm and sunny place, good drainage, and consistent watering to thrive. However, avoid dry or overly wet soil which is bad for peppers as they don’t like standing water. Each pot should be at least 12 inches deep and provide the plant with 8-10 hours of sunlight for optimum growth.

Best Snow Blower under $1000

Troy-Bilt Storm 2625 Snow Blower – Best for easy control

The Storm 2625 snow blower stands out for several reasons. The first is a Just One Hand technology which allows you to lock in your speed. With speed locked in, you only need one hand to steer the blower. The other hand is free to work controls such as a 2-way chute control lever. It lets you to turn the chute from side to side in order to vary direction of snow discharge.
You will also notice that this chute is longer than in other snow blowers. The extended design in intended to reduce blowback of snow discharge on you.
Airless tires assure you that you will never have to deal with a flat tire and also provide strong traction.

⦁ Lock in speed
⦁ Airless tires
⦁ Extended chute design

What we didn’t like

Husqvarna ST224 Snow Blower – Best for chute control

The Husqvarna ST224 is a 2-stage snow blower with a working width of 24 inches.
It is powered using a 208cc Husqvarna engine which provides sufficient power to handle snow about 12 inches deep. A 2.7- liter gas tank means you can clear snow a few times before it is time for a refill.
A favorite feature in this model is a remote controlled chute. With this you don’t have to stop to adjust chute direction manually. There is a remote control used to move the deflector and rotate the chute as far as 180 degrees, allowing you to vary disposal directions as you go.
Loop handles serve to maintain a strong grip on the machine and handle grips are warmed to keep you warm as you tackle the snow. The one gripe we have with this snow blower is its plastic control panel.

What we liked

⦁ Remote controlled chute
⦁ Sturdy wheels for good traction
⦁ Heated handlebar grips
⦁ Loop handles

What we didn’t like

Ego SNT2400 – Best cordless electric snow blower

This self-propelled model gives you the advantages of electric power but without a cord. The Ego SNT2400 is a 2-stage snow blower powered by 2 EGO 56V batteries. A 24-inch clearing width makes it suitable for your driveway or sidewalks and heavy-duty steel construction makes it capable of clearing snow up to 20 inches deep.
Disposing of cleared snow is easy because the chute can rotate up to 200 degrees and throw it up to 50 feet away. You can vary speed depending on specific need and have the option for both forward and reverse motion. If you need to clear the snow at night, 4 bright LED headlights make it possible to do so.

⦁ Chute rotates up to 200 degrees
⦁ Throws snow up to 50 feet

What we didn’t like

Briggs & Stratton S1024 – Best light duty snow blower

This Briggs & Stratton model is best for you if you get light to medium snowfall. It also works best for small driveways and pathways with a clearing width of 24 inches.
A 208cc gas-powered engine is behind the machine’s 5 forward and 2 reverse speeds. To start it up, you only need to push an electric push button. With this starting system, you will have no trouble getting the engine rumbling, even in extremely low temperatures.
Manual chute rotation means you have to switch directions in which the chute disposes displaced snow, and this is done using a chute crank moved from left to right.
LED lights make it possible to clear snow at any time of day or night although night clearing next to the house may be inconvenient because the blower is somewhat loud.

What we liked

⦁ Electric start system
⦁ 5 forward and 2 reverse speeds
⦁ LED lights

What we didn’t like

⦁ Quite noisy
From this list, our top pick is the Troy-Bilt Storm 2625 snow blower. We like the Just One Hand operation which frees one hand for other controls. We also like the extended chute design and zero-maintenance airless tires.
